Unique Bridesmaid Gifts for a Traditional Wedding Celebration

Saturday, October 31st, 2009
It is customary for brides and grooms to provide their bridesmaids and groomsmen with gifts. Gifts bestowed upon the wedding party are simply to thank your special friends (and sometimes relatives) for participating in your special day. While it is customary, it is not required, though it is usually greatly appreciated. Gifts for your bridesmaids can be as extravagant as you can afford or as simple as you like. There are no concrete rules as to what is appropriate and what is not.

The gifts you give your bridesmaids may depend on your budget, how traditional your wedding is, and on your personality. Whichever route you take, it is a good idea to go with unique gifts. Traditional bridesmaid gifts include jewelry, stationery, and photo albums. Here is a unique spin on these typical gifts, and some other good ideas, to make you stand out as the unique and exciting bride!

Jewelry

Jewelry may be the most traditional bridesmaid gift there is. Many brides give their bridesmaids a pair of earrings or necklace that would complement their bridesmaid dresses for the ceremony. While jewelry is an excellent idea, why not break the mold and give your bridesmaids handmade jewelry that is made by you.

If you have absolutely no idea how to make jewelry, that is fine. Seek out a local jeweler and design the jewelry specifically for your bridesmaids. Whether you actually fashion the jewelry with your own two hands or design it with a jeweler, the sentiment is the same. Your bridesmaids should love it.

Stationery

Many brides opt to give their bridesmaids stationery. While it probably should be the other way around, especially since the bride may need to write thank-you note upon thank-you note after the wedding, stationery is a classic bridesmaid gift. Instead of buying a pre-packaged set of note cards and envelopes, consider making your own for your bridesmaids. Although good quality stationery is an excellent gift, it will mean more to your girls if you give them handmade stationery.

Making your own stationery is not as difficult as you may think. Simply go to your favorite paper retailer and pick out some good quality note cards and separate sheets. A good paper store should have a wide variety of cardstocks, sizes, and paper types available. Buy some stamps while you are there and stamp each note card or sheet to make a set. As you do this, keep in mind the personal tastes of each of your bridesmaids so that you can tailor each set to each girl’s style.

Photo Albums

Bridesmaids often receive beautiful photo albums from the bride. In most cases, these photo albums are empty and must be filled. Though of good quality, they are often from the store, which any bride can obtain. To put a unique spin on the classic photo album, think about simply filling it before you give it to your bridesmaid. You could print out copies of photographs of specials days that the two of you shared (do this for each bridesmaid so that each album is unique) and perhaps with some beautiful paper and a nice pen, place a caption on each page that illustrates the memory.

With a photo album, you could wait until your wedding pictures are printed as well. Order a few extra copies of certain shots to include within your bridesmaids’ photo albums. There is no rule that you must give your bridesmaids their gifts before the wedding.

The Gift You All Can Share

A unique way to thank your bridesmaids, and have fun with them, is to give a gift that you all can share. Sure, your bridesmaids are treating you to the bachelorette party, bridal shower, and many other treats along the way to your big day, but you may want to do the same for them. A very unique gift for your bridesmaids would be to purchase tickets to a concert, event, or show that you would all like to attend. That way, you can all enjoy the show and you can give them a unique gift.

Another unique bridesmaid gift that you all can share is a day at the spa. If you choose to do this, it might be well worth the effort to schedule this event close to the big day. That way, all the girls can get together, have a “girls’ day out” at the spa, primp, relax, and get ready for the biggest day of your life, together. This is a really fun way to spend a day with your closest friends.

Just remember, as long as you put some heart and soul into choosing gifts for your bridesmaids, you really cannot go wrong. If you put that extra thought and effort into it, you are likely to come up with a unique bridesmaid gift even for your most traditional wedding celebration.

Unusual Bridesmaids Gifts To Make Your Bridesmaids Feel Special

Saturday, October 31st, 2009
A wedding day is a very special, in fact unique, day for the bride and groom, and for close family and friends, especially those who play a part in the ceremony, such as the bridesmaids. In most cases, the bridesmaids do get a fair amount of attention as part of the supporting cast, and it is usual for bridesmaids gifts to be given as a memento of the occasion.

As bride and groom, though, you may want to say a big thank you to the bridesmaids and do something a bit special for them. So, you may be considering an unusual bridesmaids’ gift to show them their role was more important to you than they may have thought; and, that they are not and will not be forgotten.

Wanting to give an unusual bridesmaid gift is one thing, but finding one is a different matter altogether. However, maybe “finding” is not the right way to go about it. You want to thank the bridesmaids for their support on your special wedding day, so why not thank them by arranging something special for them, in which they, not you, are the focus of attention?

What you do will, of course, depend on budget, and what you think the bridesmaids will all appreciate. Here are just a few ideas for unusual bridesmaids’ gifts that you could arrange.

Bridesmaids’ Bash

On the wedding day itself, you probably had a reception and maybe a disco or some form of entertainment for the wedding guests. Again, the stars of the show were you, the bride and groom. One sure way to show appreciation is for you to stand aside and bring the bridesmaids to the fore, to feel very special and appreciated.

One thing you could do is to arrange a Bridesmaids Bash, a party arranged just for them. If you are going away for a honeymoon, would it not be nice to get back home, and a few days latter have a special party organised for the bridesmaids Of course, you can give them a small memento also, but as the main, and unusual, bridesmaids gift, a fun bash in which they are the focus, could go down really well.

Bridesmaids’ Beauty Binge

There is no doubt that almost every bride and groom goes to great lengths to look their best on the wedding day; the same is true of the bridesmaids. There is also no doubting that girls and young women across the bridesmaid age group do feel special when they are having a lot of attention being paid to their health and beauty.

For an unusual bridesmaids’ gift, how about negotiating with a local parlour for a group beauty session for all the bridesmaids? It would be fun for them to go together a couple of weeks after the wedding, and have a makeover, pedicure, manicure, new hairdo, massage; whatever you can afford to make a fuss of them for an hour or two, or three.

Bridesmaids’ Bloat Out

Another bridesmaid gift idea that is a bit unusual is, rather than the full Bridesmaids’ Bash, take them all out for a special meal a week or two after the wedding. This idea is not for those on a diet, but as they are all young and probably in good shape, some sort of feast, a Bridesmaids’ Bloat Out, could be a good idea. It is best to sound them out in advance, so you can choose a venue they will all be delighted with, whatever their age.

To make it special, you could arrange for a local florist, or the establishment manager, to deliver flowers, or some other gift, to the table. A little bit of imagination could make this a fun occasion to all and give the bridesmaids the special attention they deserve.

Toy Kitchens Are Great For Creative Play

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Imagination is one of your child’s greatest attributes - they don’t have the preconceived understanding that something is not possible. Their imaginations take them many places and could, some day, lead to innovations that will change the way the world is, maybe even finding a cure for the common cold. Parents can help their children by allowing and encouraging imaginative and creative play.

Play kitchens are just one form of imaginary play that is great for children. A pretend kitchen with play food, pots and pans, cutlery, and dishes can inspire children of either gender to go on a wild ride of imaginative play.

Creativity and imagination encourage intelligence in children and challenge their brains, making more neural pathways. You can help your children by giving them some toy tools that will inspire their own creativity.

A play food set, with all the accessories, can afford your child hours of fun and giggles. Even you as parents will be invited to some intimate tea parties and succulent dinners - all make believe of course! Toy kitchens come as “complete” as a regular kitchen and you can purchase accessories, such as toy microwaves, shopping baskets, weigh scales, even cash till so your child can learn how to use money.
